Brandi Ashby is an Assistant Chief for Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). In this role, she ensures the administration of the state’s emergency management programs within the 28 counties of TDEM Region 6 (South-Central Texas). She works closely with her staff to ensure local governments are supported with technical assistance as needed for Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and Recovery activities.
Ashby started with TDEM in 2010 as a Regional Liaison Officer in Disaster District 20 Corpus Christi. While in District 20, she was involved in numerous events and declared disasters including the response and recovery to the severely impacted landfall counties in Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Additionally, she has been deployed to numerous incidents and events across the state and around the nation. In 2018, Ashby promoted to Assistant Chief and moved to Lubbock, where she served as Assistant Chief of the region covering the Northwest Texas area including the Panhandle, South Plains, and Big Country. After TDEM’s geographic regions were updated in 2023, Ashby relocated to College Station, where she led operations in TDEM Region 8.
Ashby is a member of International Association of Emergency Management and an original member of the Coastal Bend Emergency Managers Association. She holds the designation of Certified Emergency Manager. She completed her Associate of Science in Criminal Justice and BAAS in Emergency Management Administration from West Texas A&M University. She is working on her M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University.
