Why the revision?

The Training and Exercise Planning Workshop and the resulting plan did not support the integration of all preparedness activities.
Evaluation and Improvement often fell short
Planning, Organizing and Equipping were not addressed
The purpose of the IPP is to document overall preparedness priorities and activities.
The IPP incorporating all elements of the Integrated Preparedness Cycle allows for maximum efficiency of resources, time, and funding.

Purpose of the Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop (IPPW)

The purpose of the IPPW is to consider the range of preparedness activities within the Integrated Preparedness Cycle, and along with the guidance provided by senior leaders, identify and set preparedness priorities, and schedule preparedness activities for the multi-year Integrated Preparedness Plan.

Establishing Priorities:

Preparedness priorities are the strategic, high-level priorities that guide overall preparedness activities.
These priorities should be comprehensive to meet the needs of the whole community and will drive preparedness activities through the Integrated Preparedness Cycle.

Yes

Whole community involvement means that the community is represented adequately. Depending on the makeup of your jurisdiction, include community leaders, responder agencies, industry and business leaders, volunteer and/or religious organizations. Invite all entities that have a stake in preparedness activities and/or respond to incidents.

No, you can use any format, but it must provide the same information.

Yes and no. All spaces should be filled in except for the Training and Exercise sections. You may have a smaller number of training sessions or exercises as spaces provided.

Ideally this should be a collaborative effort.

Any training that is provided to increase core capabilities within the community. This can include National Weather Service Spotter Training to the public; Incident Command Courses – ICS 300/400; and any first responder training.

If you want to send in amendment, you are free to do so but it is not mandated. You are required to inform the Grants and Exercise Units, but a simple email will do.
During major impacts, such as the COVID-19 response, look for information coming from the Exercise Unit to assist your jurisdiction staying grant compliant.

The IPP should be emailed to TDEM.Exercises@tdem.texas.gov. The form has a build in “Submit” button for your convenience.
Please do not try to upload the IPP into the GMS System, it is not designed to accept IPPs and AAR/IPs.
