TDEM Opens 2025 Texas Emergency Management Conference in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, TEXAS— The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM)officially opened the 2025 Texas Emergency Management Conference today at the Fort Worth Convention Center, welcoming thousands of emergency professionals to one of the largest and most influential emergency management events in the country.

Held May 27–30, the three-and-a-half-day event features over 200 educational sessions, an expansive exhibit hall, and networking opportunities. Attendees include local, state, tribal, and federal officials, nonprofit and private-sector partners, public health professionals, and emergency managers from across Texas and beyond.

This year's programming spotlights high-priority topics such as wildfire operations, public health response, cybersecurity, protecting critical infrastructure, disaster communications, and community recovery strategies.

“It’s hard to know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been,” said Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. “The Conference is a place to innovate, educate, train—and maybe even have a little fun along the way. Whether you’re just starting in emergency management or have been at it for decades, this is where we come together to shape the future of how we serve Texans.”

In addition to remarks from Chief Kidd, the Opening Session featured Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and The Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp.

“I hope that this conference really does bring you together to share best practices, to learn from one another, and importantly, build rapport across cities, to have those relationships when crisis does happen.” said Mayor Parker.

“Whether I'm in Washington State or Maine or Boston or anyplace else, the best disaster response exists in one state, and that's the state of Texas, and that's because of you,” Chancellor Sharp told attendees. “I'm simply here to one last time say thank you to all of you for making this state as safe as possible.”

Throughout the week, professionals from diverse backgrounds will present real-world lessons and emerging strategies that can be directly applied to enhance preparedness and resilience at all levels, empowering all attendees with practical knowledge.
