Governor Abbott Requests Federal Disaster Assistance For Five Additional Counties Following Texas Flooding

Governor Greg Abbott today announced that he directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to request that five additional counties — Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green — be added to President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration following the recent catastrophic flooding that impacted communities across Texas.

“Texas continues to rebuild and recover following recent catastrophic flooding,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, I requested that additional counties be added to President Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration to ensure affected communities receive the assistance needed to respond and move forward. We will help all of our communities through the recovery process.”

A review of damage assessments in Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green counties shows they exceed federal criteria for FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which includes assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities. Additional counties may be requested as updated information becomes available.
